Mannheim / Germany

It's April 28. We are somewhere in the Corona pandemic. How do you experience the situation at the moment?

Well, it's challenging, I'd say. I am at home with the whole family. My husband and myself are working from home. Then we have home schooling and kindergarten. At the beginning, it was quite strange. For me, it felt like prison. And now I can say we found an arrangement.

Thank you. When you look at this time, is there anything you learn about yourself or the society you're living in?

Yes, I ask myself if I am afraid of something: of the situation, of the pandemic, of something that happens now that I can't control, but I'm not.

So you're not afraid?

I think it happens for a reason. And, I'm sure there will be a way out of that, somehow. But many others are afraid of that.

When you look at the society, is there anything you learn about society?

Yeah, I learn how aggressive people sometimes can can be. Because of the fear they feel. For example in a line in front of the supermarket: there was an old woman and a young man, and he was so aggressive against her. And I had to interfere. I could not stand that.

Looking ahead from today into a time where we learned to live well with this virus. What do you want more of or less of in your life or in society?

This is a good question. More focus on the things that are really important and stop the nonsense and bullshit stuff. To be more present and enjoy the things that you have, that we have. I mean, in Germany, we can be very happy. The situation is much better than in other countries. But also in our family, we enjoy being together. We do things we haven't done before, like gardening, for example.

So more focus and less bullshit?

Yes, more gardening. Less media, more people. And enjoying the moment or being with someone became more special to me right now. I value more being with someone.

So the last question. If you look to the future, what is your wildest dream about the future? What could a future be like that you don't even dare to dream?

No war. Everyone has enough.

So less social inequality. And for you personally, what would be the why? Maybe for your children? What would be your wildest dream?

A green world please. With loads of plants and water and animals. A jungle.

Thank you very much.
